{"id":54,"date":"2026-09-04T17:17:55","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T10:17:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vietnamhub.com.vn\/en\/?p=54"},"modified":"2026-09-04T17:18:05","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T10:18:05","slug":"agi-artificial-general-intelligence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vietnamhub.com.vn\/en\/agi-artificial-general-intelligence\/","title":{"rendered":"AGI \u2013 ARTIFICIAL GENERAL INTELLIGENCE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From the Dream of Machine Intelligence to a Possible New Era for Humanity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)<\/strong> is one of the most ambitious goals in the history of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s AI systems can already write, translate languages, generate images and music, analyze information, write software, solve complex problems, and assist people across many professional fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But AGI represents a much broader ambition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than building an AI system that is extremely good at one particular task, researchers are seeking systems capable of <strong>learning, reasoning, adapting, planning, and solving a wide range of intellectual problems<\/strong> with a level of flexibility approaching human intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/vietnamhub.com.vn\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/98B8D453-BD21-4F39-AD0A-EEAA067C1DA7-1024x683.png\" alt=\"AGI \u2013 ARTIFICIAL GENERAL INTELLIGENCE\" class=\"wp-image-55\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vietnamhub.com.vn\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/98B8D453-BD21-4F39-AD0A-EEAA067C1DA7-1024x683.png 1024w, https:\/\/vietnamhub.com.vn\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/98B8D453-BD21-4F39-AD0A-EEAA067C1DA7-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/vietnamhub.com.vn\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/98B8D453-BD21-4F39-AD0A-EEAA067C1DA7-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/vietnamhub.com.vn\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/98B8D453-BD21-4F39-AD0A-EEAA067C1DA7.png 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>AGI \u2013 ARTIFICIAL GENERAL INTELLIGENCE<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If such systems become possible, AGI could transform science, education, healthcare, business, employment, technology, government, and ultimately the way human civilization operates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, it raises one of the most profound questions of the 21st century:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What happens when humanity creates an artificial system capable of general intellectual work at or beyond the level of humans?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1. What Is AGI?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AGI stands for <strong>Artificial General Intelligence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no single universally accepted definition of AGI. Different researchers and organizations use the term in different ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At its core, however, AGI generally refers to an artificial intelligence system capable of performing a <strong>broad range of cognitive tasks<\/strong>, learning new skills, transferring knowledge between domains, and adapting to unfamiliar situations rather than being narrowly optimized for a predefined task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A conventional AI system might be designed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>recognize faces;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>translate languages;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>detect objects;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>play chess;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>recommend products;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>classify medical images;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>generate text;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>create images.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AGI would ideally be able to learn many of these tasks\u2014and new ones\u2014within a common intelligence framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A simple way to think about the distinction is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Narrow AI is designed to do specific things. AGI is designed to learn how to do many things.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. AGI vs. Today\u2019s AI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rapid development of AI has made the distinction between advanced AI and AGI increasingly difficult to understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Modern AI systems can demonstrate remarkable capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>write sophisticated software;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>summarize large documents;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>analyze images;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reason through complex problems;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>generate natural conversations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use external tools;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>search information;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>create multimedia content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet impressive performance does not automatically mean that a system is AGI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the central ideas behind general intelligence is <strong>transfer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humans can learn something in one context and apply that knowledge somewhere completely different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A person who learns mathematics can use mathematical reasoning in engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A person who learns how to operate one computer program can often transfer general concepts to another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A child can learn from a small number of examples and adapt to situations that were never explicitly demonstrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AGI aims for a similar level of flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. AGI Is Not the Same as a Humanoid Robot<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AGI is primarily about <strong>intelligence<\/strong>, while robotics is about <strong>physical action<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An AGI could exist entirely as software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It could operate inside a data center and interact with the world through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>text;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>voice;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>images;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>video;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>software;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>APIs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>databases;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the Internet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A humanoid robot, meanwhile, does not automatically possess general intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A robot might be able to walk, recognize objects, and perform repetitive tasks without possessing anything close to human-level general reasoning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, combining advanced AGI with sophisticated robotics could be transformative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system would not merely understand instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It could potentially <strong>act in the physical world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. The Origins of the AGI Idea<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea of creating intelligent machines is much older than today\u2019s AI industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For centuries, humans have imagined artificial beings capable of reasoning and acting independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Modern AI research emerged from the development of computing, mathematics, logic, neuroscience, and cognitive science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1950, British mathematician and computer scientist <strong>Alan Turing<\/strong> famously asked whether machines could think and proposed what later became known as the <strong>Turing Test<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1956, the Dartmouth workshop became a landmark event in the formal development of artificial intelligence as a field of research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Early AI research focused heavily on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>symbolic reasoning;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>logic;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>search;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>problem solving;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>knowledge representation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>expert systems;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>natural language processing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Progress was uneven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were periods of enormous optimism followed by periods of disappointment and reduced funding, often described as <strong>AI winters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The modern AI revolution emerged from the convergence of several technologies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>large datasets;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>powerful processors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GPUs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cloud computing;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>deep learning;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>neural networks;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>transformer architectures;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>large-scale model training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5. Why Has AI Advanced So Quickly?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current AI revolution is not the result of a single breakthrough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the result of several forces reinforcing each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Data<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Internet has created an enormous amount of digital information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI systems can learn from text, images, audio, video, code, scientific literature, and other forms of data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Computing Power<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Modern GPUs and specialized AI accelerators make it possible to train increasingly large models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Algorithms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Advances in neural network architectures and training methods have dramatically improved machine learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Capital<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI development requires enormous investment in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>computing infrastructure;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>chips;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>data centers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>research;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>engineering;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>energy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Global Collaboration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research papers, open-source projects, developer communities, and international competition have accelerated innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, these factors have created an unprecedented environment for AI development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>6. Are Large Language Models AGI?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not necessarily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Large Language Models, or <strong>LLMs<\/strong>, are AI systems trained on enormous quantities of language and other data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They can perform a remarkable variety of tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, AGI is a broader concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A generally intelligent system may need to demonstrate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>reasoning;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>planning;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>long-term memory;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>learning;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>adaptation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>tool use;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>perception;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>decision-making;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>general problem solving;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>knowledge transfer;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>autonomous task execution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An LLM may become an important component of an AGI system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the terms <strong>LLM<\/strong> and <strong>AGI<\/strong> should not automatically be treated as synonyms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>7. What Might an AGI System Need?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no universally agreed architecture for AGI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nevertheless, researchers frequently discuss several capabilities that could be important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Perception<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system needs to understand information from different sources:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>text;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>images;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>audio;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>video;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sensors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>digital environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Memory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A capable general intelligence may need multiple forms of memory:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>short-term memory;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>long-term memory;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>episodic memory;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>factual knowledge;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reasoning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AGI must be able to combine information and draw conclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Planning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It should be capable of breaking a large objective into smaller steps and executing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It needs to acquire new knowledge and skills rather than relying exclusively on its original training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tool Use<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A highly capable AI may need to operate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>computers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>browsers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>databases;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>software;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>APIs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>scientific instruments;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>robots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Adaptation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps most importantly, the system must be able to respond effectively to situations it has never encountered before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>8. AI Agents and the Road Toward AGI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A traditional chatbot mainly responds to prompts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An <strong>AI agent<\/strong> goes further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can potentially receive an objective, develop a plan, use tools, perform multiple actions, evaluate results, and continue working toward the objective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, imagine asking an AI:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cResearch this market and develop a business strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A sophisticated agent could potentially:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>research the market;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>identify competitors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>collect data;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>analyze trends;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>build financial models;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>write a business plan;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>create presentations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>review its own work;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>revise the results.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This transition\u2014from <strong>answering questions<\/strong> to <strong>performing tasks<\/strong>\u2014could be one of the most important stages in the evolution of AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>9. Can AGI Learn Continuously?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continuous learning is one of the hardest problems in AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humans learn throughout their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not retrain our entire brains every time we acquire a new fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An advanced AGI would ideally be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>observe \u2192 experiment \u2192 receive feedback \u2192 learn \u2192 adapt \u2192 improve.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But continuous learning also creates risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A system could:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>learn incorrect information;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>become vulnerable to malicious data;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>forget important knowledge;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develop unexpected behaviors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>change its behavior after deployment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, lifelong learning must be combined with strong evaluation, monitoring, and safety mechanisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>10. Does AGI Need Consciousness?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is currently no definitive answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Intelligence and consciousness are not necessarily the same thing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A system might demonstrate sophisticated reasoning without having subjective experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It could potentially solve problems, plan actions, and communicate without experiencing emotions in the human sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But consciousness itself remains one of the deepest unresolved questions in neuroscience and philosophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not yet have a universally accepted scientific explanation of human consciousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, claims that AGI will definitely become conscious\u2014or definitely never could\u2014go beyond what current science can establish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>11. Will AGI Be Smarter Than Humans?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not necessarily in every sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Human intelligence is highly diverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People possess different strengths and weaknesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An AI system could simultaneously have extraordinary computational abilities while lacking some forms of human understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Machines can potentially have major advantages in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>calculation speed;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>memory;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>information retrieval;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>parallel processing;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>replication;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>continuous operation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An AI system does not have to outperform humans at everything to have enormous economic impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If it can perform a large proportion of valuable intellectual tasks at dramatically lower cost, the consequences could already be profound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2e3b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>12.
