AI Policy

VietnamHub – Artificial Intelligence, Editorial Integrity & Transparency

VietnamHub recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) can provide valuable tools for research, translation, data analysis, editing, accessibility and content production. At the same time, AI can introduce inaccuracies, fabricated information, bias, copyright concerns and other editorial risks.

This AI Policy explains how VietnamHub may use artificial intelligence and the principles that govern its use.

1. Our Principle

AI may assist journalism and publishing, but it does not replace editorial responsibility.

VietnamHub remains responsible for the accuracy, fairness, context, originality and integrity of content published under the VietnamHub name.

AI-generated or AI-assisted material is not considered automatically reliable. Human review is required whenever AI is used in a way that may affect factual claims, interpretation, public understanding or editorial judgment.

2. How VietnamHub May Use AI

VietnamHub may use AI tools for legitimate editorial and operational purposes, including:

  • Research assistance and information discovery
  • Summarizing publicly available information
  • Generating research questions and article outlines
  • Language translation and localization
  • Grammar, spelling and style assistance
  • Headline and metadata suggestions
  • SEO assistance
  • Data organization and analysis
  • Transcription and speech-to-text processing
  • Accessibility and content-formatting assistance
  • Image, illustration or graphic ideation
  • Video and multimedia production assistance
  • Internal workflow automation
  • Technical development and programming assistance

The specific tools used may change as technology evolves.

3. Human Editorial Oversight

AI does not have final editorial authority at VietnamHub.

Before publication, AI-assisted material may be reviewed for:

  • Factual accuracy
  • Source reliability
  • Context and completeness
  • Potential bias
  • Misleading or unsupported claims
  • Language and meaning
  • Copyright and intellectual-property concerns
  • Privacy and personal-data risks
  • Potential harm to individuals or communities

Editors and contributors remain responsible for the final published work.

4. AI-Generated Facts and Claims

VietnamHub does not treat an AI system’s output as a primary source of fact.

AI systems can produce inaccurate, outdated, incomplete or fabricated information. Therefore, important factual claims generated or suggested by AI should be independently verified against reliable sources whenever reasonably possible.

For significant stories, VietnamHub may consult:

  • Official government sources
  • Public records
  • Academic and research institutions
  • International organizations
  • Primary documents
  • Direct statements from relevant individuals or organizations
  • Reputable news organizations
  • Other authoritative sources appropriate to the subject

Our approach to sourcing and verification is described in the Sources & Methodology and Fact Check sections of VietnamHub.

5. AI and Original Journalism

AI assistance does not by itself constitute original journalism.

VietnamHub seeks to add human editorial value through:

  • Independent research
  • Verification
  • Context
  • Analysis
  • Reporting
  • Editorial judgment
  • Original writing
  • Clear attribution of sources

Where AI is used primarily as a production aid, the final publication remains subject to the same editorial standards as other VietnamHub content.

6. Disclosure of AI Use

VietnamHub may disclose significant AI assistance when transparency would materially help readers understand how a piece of content was produced.

Disclosure may be appropriate when AI has been substantially involved in:

  • Generating a published article or major section of an article
  • Creating or materially transforming images
  • Producing audio or video
  • Generating translations that are published without extensive human rewriting
  • Creating synthetic or reconstructed representations of people, events or places

Routine uses of AI for spelling, grammar, formatting, brainstorming or other minor editorial assistance may not require individual disclosure.

VietnamHub may update its disclosure practices as AI technology and industry standards develop.

7. AI-Generated Images and Media

AI-generated or AI-manipulated visual content must not be presented in a manner that intentionally deceives readers about real events.

When appropriate, VietnamHub may label content as:

AI-generated

or

AI-assisted

AI-generated imagery should not be used to fabricate documentary evidence or falsely represent a real person, location, event or situation.

When an illustrative image is used rather than a documentary photograph, VietnamHub may identify it as an illustration where necessary to avoid confusion.

8. Synthetic People, Voices and Events

VietnamHub will exercise particular caution with synthetic representations of real people.

AI-generated:

  • Faces
  • Voices
  • Quotes
  • Interviews
  • Statements
  • Events
  • Photographs
  • Video footage

must not be presented as authentic material when they are not authentic.

VietnamHub will not knowingly use synthetic media to falsely attribute statements or actions to a real person.

9. AI Translations

VietnamHub may use AI-assisted translation to make information available to international audiences, including English-language editions.

Translations are treated as editorial content and may require human review, particularly for:

  • Names
  • Historical terminology
  • Legal terminology
  • Cultural references
  • Political terminology
  • Technical subjects
  • Statements and quotations

Where a translation contains an error, VietnamHub may correct it in accordance with its Corrections policy.

10. AI and Quotations

AI systems must not be used to invent quotations and present them as statements made by real people.

A quotation published by VietnamHub should be traceable to an appropriate source, such as:

  • A recorded interview
  • An official statement
  • A published document
  • A verified transcript
  • A reliable primary or secondary source

AI may assist with transcription or translation, but it must not create fictional quotations that are presented as genuine.

11. Privacy and Personal Data

VietnamHub takes reasonable precautions when using AI systems that process information.

Sensitive personal information should not be submitted to AI systems unnecessarily.

VietnamHub will consider:

  • Privacy
  • Data minimization
  • Confidentiality
  • Security
  • Consent
  • Applicable legal requirements

when determining whether information may appropriately be processed using an AI tool.

12. Confidential Sources

Confidential source identities must be protected.

VietnamHub should not disclose identifying information about confidential sources to an AI system unless there is a legitimate, appropriate and adequately protected reason to do so.

The use of AI must never compromise a source’s safety or confidentiality.

13. Copyright and Intellectual Property

VietnamHub respects copyright and other intellectual-property rights.

AI tools may assist with editorial work, but their use does not remove the obligation to respect:

  • Copyright
  • Licensing terms
  • Attribution requirements
  • Moral rights
  • Trademarks
  • Database rights
  • Other applicable intellectual-property protections

VietnamHub will make reasonable efforts to avoid publishing AI-generated material that improperly reproduces protected works.

14. Bias and Fairness

AI systems may reproduce or amplify biases contained in their training data or other underlying systems.

VietnamHub therefore does not assume that AI-generated information is neutral or unbiased.

Editors should consider whether AI-assisted material may contain:

  • Cultural bias
  • Gender bias
  • Political bias
  • Geographic bias
  • Stereotyping
  • Unequal representation
  • Misleading framing

Human editorial judgment remains essential.

15. AI in News and Public-Interest Reporting

For sensitive subjects, AI assistance requires additional caution.

This may include reporting involving:

  • Elections and politics
  • War and conflict
  • Public safety
  • Health
  • Law and criminal allegations
  • Financial markets
  • Children
  • Vulnerable communities
  • National security
  • Breaking news

In such cases, VietnamHub may require stronger verification and additional human review before publication.

16. AI and Editorial Independence

AI tools must not determine VietnamHub’s editorial position.

Commercial AI providers, automated recommendation systems or algorithmic outputs do not control:

  • What VietnamHub publishes
  • What VietnamHub investigates
  • Editorial conclusions
  • News priorities
  • Corrections
  • Fact-checking decisions

Editorial decisions remain the responsibility of VietnamHub.

17. AI-Assisted Content vs. AI-Generated Content

VietnamHub distinguishes, where useful, between:

AI-assisted content
Content substantially created or researched by humans with AI used as a supporting tool.

AI-generated content
Content in which AI has produced a substantial portion of the published material.

The distinction may be disclosed when it is materially relevant to readers.

18. Corrections and Accountability

If AI contributes to an error in published content, VietnamHub remains responsible for correcting the error.

AI involvement is not an excuse for inaccurate reporting.

Corrections may be made in accordance with the VietnamHub Corrections policy, including correction of factual errors, misleading information, inaccurate translations or improperly attributed material.

19. Continuous Review

AI technology develops rapidly. VietnamHub will periodically review this policy and may update it to reflect:

  • New AI capabilities
  • Emerging risks
  • Changes in journalism standards
  • Changes in applicable law
  • New industry practices
  • Lessons learned from editorial experience

The latest version published on the VietnamHub website represents the current policy.

20. Our Commitment

VietnamHub believes artificial intelligence can strengthen journalism when it is used responsibly, transparently and under meaningful human oversight.

Our commitment is simple:

Use technology to improve journalism — never use technology as a substitute for truth, verification and editorial responsibility.

VietnamHub will continue to develop its use of AI while maintaining the principles of accuracy, independence, transparency, accountability and respect for readers.
