VietnamHub
Vietnam & The World
Our Editorial Commitment
VietnamHub is an independent digital magazine dedicated to providing reliable, meaningful and accessible information about Vietnam and the wider world.
Our editorial work is guided by accuracy, integrity, fairness, independence and respect for our readers.
We believe journalism and publishing should not simply inform people. They should help people understand the forces shaping society, culture, technology, the economy and the future.
This Editorial Charter establishes the principles that guide VietnamHub’s editorial decisions, reporting, fact-checking, analysis, visual content and corrections.
1. Accuracy Comes First
Accuracy is the foundation of everything we publish.
VietnamHub seeks to:
- Verify important facts before publication.
- Distinguish clearly between facts, analysis, opinion and commentary.
- Use reliable and appropriate sources.
- Attribute information to its original or authoritative sources whenever possible.
- Correct significant errors promptly and transparently.
- Avoid presenting speculation as established fact.
When information is uncertain, incomplete or disputed, we will make that uncertainty clear to readers.
2. Editorial Independence
VietnamHub maintains editorial independence from political, commercial and personal interests.
Editorial decisions should be based on public interest, relevance, evidence and journalistic value — not on pressure from advertisers, sponsors, individuals, organizations or other external interests.
Commercial relationships must not determine editorial conclusions.
Where a potential conflict of interest could reasonably affect the credibility of a story, VietnamHub will seek to disclose it appropriately.
3. Fairness and Balance
VietnamHub aims to present issues fairly and in their proper context.
When reporting on controversial or disputed matters, we will make reasonable efforts to:
- Represent significant viewpoints accurately.
- Avoid deliberately misleading framing.
- Give relevant parties a reasonable opportunity to respond when appropriate.
- Separate criticism from personal attacks.
- Avoid selectively presenting information in a way that creates a false impression.
Fairness does not require giving equal weight to claims that are not equally supported by evidence.
4. Evidence and Sources
VietnamHub values evidence-based publishing.
We prioritize:
- Official documents and public records.
- Primary sources.
- Academic and scientific research.
- Reputable news organizations.
- Recognized institutions and experts.
- Direct interviews and first-hand information.
- Reliable datasets and independently verifiable evidence.
Anonymous sources may be used when the information is important and cannot reasonably be obtained otherwise. Their anonymity should be protected when necessary, while the editorial team must still assess the credibility and potential motivation of the source.
5. Fact-Checking
Important claims should be checked before publication whenever reasonably possible.
VietnamHub Fact Check may examine:
- Public statements.
- Statistics and datasets.
- Historical claims.
- Images and photographs.
- Videos.
- Social media content.
- Viral information.
- Claims made by public figures or organizations.
Fact-checking is conducted independently of political or commercial preferences.
When evidence is insufficient to establish a conclusion, VietnamHub will say so rather than manufacture certainty.
6. Corrections and Transparency
Mistakes can happen. Concealing them damages trust.
When VietnamHub identifies a material error, we will correct it as promptly as reasonably possible.
Corrections should be:
- Clear.
- Proportionate to the significance of the error.
- Transparent about what was changed when appropriate.
We will not intentionally alter published information in a way that conceals a significant factual error.
Readers may report possible errors or request clarification through the appropriate VietnamHub contact channels.
7. Distinguishing News, Analysis and Opinion
VietnamHub distinguishes between different forms of editorial content.
News and factual reporting focuses on verified information and developments.
Analysis provides context, interpretation and explanation based on available evidence.
Opinion and commentary expresses a clearly identified viewpoint.
Readers should be able to understand what kind of content they are reading.
8. Artificial Intelligence and Technology
VietnamHub recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern publishing.
AI tools may assist with research, translation, organization, editing, data analysis, visualization or other editorial tasks.
However, AI-generated material is not automatically considered accurate.
Human editorial judgment remains responsible for published content.
VietnamHub will make reasonable efforts to:
- Verify factual claims generated or assisted by AI.
- Avoid publishing fabricated citations or sources.
- Protect confidential and sensitive information.
- Distinguish between authentic evidence and synthetic or generated material when relevant.
- Review AI-assisted content before publication.
AI is a tool. Editorial responsibility remains human.
9. Images, Video and Multimedia
Visual material can significantly influence how readers understand an event.
VietnamHub therefore seeks to ensure that photographs, videos, graphics, maps and other visual materials are:
- Accurately represented.
- Properly contextualized.
- Legally obtained or appropriately licensed.
- Clearly identified when necessary.
- Not manipulated in a misleading manner.
AI-generated or substantially altered visual material should not be presented as authentic documentary evidence.
10. Copyright and Attribution
VietnamHub respects copyright and intellectual property rights.
We seek to use original, licensed, public-domain or otherwise lawfully usable material.
When appropriate, we provide attribution to:
- Photographers.
- Authors.
- Institutions.
- Archives.
- Data providers.
- Original publishers.
- Other rights holders.
Being publicly available online does not automatically mean that material is free to use.
11. Privacy and Human Dignity
VietnamHub respects the privacy and dignity of individuals.
We consider carefully whether publishing personal information is justified by a legitimate public interest.
Particular care should be taken when dealing with:
- Children.
- Victims of violence.
- Vulnerable individuals.
- Private individuals who are not public figures.
- Sensitive personal information.
Public curiosity alone is not necessarily sufficient justification for publication.
12. Sensitive and Difficult Subjects
VietnamHub may report on subjects involving violence, death, conflict, disasters, crime, political controversy and other sensitive matters when there is legitimate public interest.
Such coverage should avoid unnecessary sensationalism, graphic detail or dehumanizing language.
The objective is to inform and provide context — not to exploit suffering.
13. Diversity and Respect
VietnamHub recognizes the diversity of Vietnamese society and the wider international community.
We seek to avoid:
- Hate speech.
- Stereotyping.
- Discriminatory descriptions.
- Dehumanizing language.
- Unnecessary prejudice.
People should be described accurately and respectfully, particularly when identity characteristics are not relevant to the story.
14. Public Interest
VietnamHub considers public interest an important principle in deciding what deserves attention.
Public-interest journalism may involve subjects such as:
- Government and public institutions.
- Society and communities.
- Science and technology.
- Artificial intelligence.
- Economy and development.
- Culture and heritage.
- Environment.
- Education.
- International relations.
- Human achievement and social progress.
Public interest should be distinguished from content that merely attracts attention.
15. Commercial Content and Sponsorship
Advertising, sponsorship and other commercial material should be distinguishable from independent editorial content.
Sponsored or promotional material should not be presented in a manner that intentionally deceives readers about its nature.
Commercial support does not give sponsors the right to dictate independent editorial conclusions.
16. Political and Public Figures
VietnamHub may report on political leaders, public officials, organizations and other influential figures when matters involving them are relevant to the public interest.
Public figures may receive greater scrutiny because their actions can affect society.
Criticism must nevertheless be grounded in facts, evidence and responsible editorial judgment.
17. Scientific and Technical Information
VietnamHub aims to present scientific and technical subjects responsibly.
Where appropriate, we seek to:
- Identify credible research.
- Distinguish established findings from emerging hypotheses.
- Avoid exaggerating preliminary results.
- Explain uncertainty.
- Provide sufficient context for readers to understand limitations.
Scientific consensus and unsupported claims should not be presented as equivalent merely for the appearance of balance.
18. Historical and Cultural Content
VietnamHub is committed to responsible coverage of Vietnam’s history, culture and heritage.
Historical information should be based on credible sources and presented with appropriate context.
When historians or sources disagree, significant disagreements should be acknowledged where relevant.
Cultural heritage should be treated with respect while remaining open to evidence-based scholarship and critical discussion.
19. International Perspective
VietnamHub seeks to connect Vietnam with the wider world.
Our international coverage aims to:
- Explain global developments in a Vietnamese context.
- Present Vietnam to international audiences accurately.
- Avoid stereotypes about countries or peoples.
- Use credible international sources.
- Encourage constructive understanding between cultures.
Vietnam should be presented neither through excessive idealization nor unnecessary pessimism.
20. Editorial Responsibility
Every published piece represents a responsibility to readers.
VietnamHub’s editorial process should continually ask:
Is it accurate?
Is it relevant?
Is it supported by evidence?
Is it fair?
Is the context sufficient?
Could it mislead readers?
Is publication justified by legitimate public interest?
These questions form the basis of responsible editorial judgment.
21. Our Relationship With Readers
Trust is earned over time.
VietnamHub welcomes:
- Corrections.
- Questions.
- Evidence-based criticism.
- Requests for clarification.
- Suggestions for improving our editorial standards.
We believe readers are not merely an audience. They are an essential part of a responsible information ecosystem.
22. Continuous Improvement
Editorial standards must evolve alongside society, technology and the information environment.
VietnamHub will periodically review its editorial policies and practices to respond to:
- New technologies.
- Artificial intelligence.
- Changes in digital media.
- Emerging forms of misinformation.
- New research and evidence.
- Changes in professional and ethical standards.
Our commitment is not to claim perfection, but to continuously improve.
Our Promise
VietnamHub is committed to publishing information with accuracy, independence, fairness, transparency and respect for the public interest.
We believe trustworthy media should help people understand not only what happened, but also why it matters, what evidence exists, what remains uncertain, and what may come next.
